I had no intention of watching this music-documentary film if it was not nominated for the American Academy Awards.

Millions know their voices, but no one knows their names. I really loved the film, and I think it's an important film as it showcases really talented singers that deserve to be recognized.

The only issue with "Stardom" is how it jumps from interview to interview leaving very little time for facts to sink in and to settle - you get to know the major players but the minor players that are extensively interviews aren't given much chance to connect.

It certainly a must watch for music lovers and for those curious to see the pivotal role that back-up singers played in shaping pop and rock classics of the 60s and 70s. In a couple of instances, they even sang the lead on some hits but the credit was given to other singers who did not sing on the record at all.

I just wanted to sing. Interviews with the likes of Bette Midler, Mick Jagger and Bruce Springsteen are full of praise for what the likes of This Oscar winning documentary is both engrossing and fun highlighting as it does the careers and importance of some of feet most famous backing singers in the business.

An interesting and occasionally poignant insight into the work of these stardkm artists unfairly neglected in the background of fame, even if the rather clumsy editing also makes it a bit hard for us to keep our interest for too long, stardon it scatters their stories together. The documentary tries to answer this question by interviewing big named stars that have used these ladies on their own records over the years. Their voices bring harmony to the biggest bands in popular music, but we've had no idea who these singers are, until now.

The movie takes its cues from Standing in the Shadows of Motown, another act of pop-culture revisionism that tried to give musical credit where it was due.

None of the three ever found much success as a solo artist, but you probably can't listen to a classic-rock radio station for a half-hour without hearing one of them backing up Joe Cocker, David Stradom, Tina Turner or the Rolling Stones. August 30, Full Review….
